Welcome to 3rd grade – Room 14!0
My name is Mrs. Bailey. I am very excited to be your child’s 3rd grade teacher this year!
The school year is off to a great start and the students are working hard learning new things. The Pleasantville Open House is on Tuesday, September 16. We have been working hard and are eager to show you some of our work. We hope to see you there!
Some new things we will be learning about during the first marking period are….
Reading – we will be working on reading comprehension, answering questions using RARE, learning new vocabulary words, and reading many interesting stories in our new reading series called Storytown.
Writing – the students will begin to write 5 paragraph essays, including an introduction, 3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion - wow! This is a new skill for many 3rd graders. Our first 5 paragraph essay will be about our 3 favorite things.
Math – using a 100 chart to add and subtract, students understand place value and adding and subtracting multiples of 10.
Science – learning about our bones and joints. Do you know how many bones are in the human body? We will even be using Mr. Bones to investigate our human body further.
We’re off to a great start and looking forward to a fantastic school year!
